Beginning a New Year with SK/1

I'm excited to be starting a new year in September with a new challenge for me. I have been teaching FDK (Full Day Kindergarten) for the past 4 years. Comprised of a mix of both Junior and Senior Kindergartens, we (teacher, ECE, and students) have undertaken together to develop a safe and caring environment for the children to explore within and outside the classroom.

My blog used to be www.kimclarkkindercritters.blogspot.ca where I explored some of the learning that took place during my first years of teaching the full day program here in Ontario. Now that I am adventuring into the Grade 1 realm this year, I felt the need to change the blog to include more of the early years grades. Here I will be exploring the Big Ideas of the curriculums for both Grade 1 and FDK while highlighting the student wonderings.

My hope is for this space to focus on classroom wonderings, teacher and ECE wonderings, and how we work together to build a community of life-long learners.

I look forward to sharing my ideas and queries on this on-line forum.
